<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE-CzOjVWdYGNfiP7c9WFkuAEdl0mOwxxmRtk9dua1UIonpWsUAIJKy-coDnks6PWQb_uCuOSDjIlBthTlG_Zy8qFabQBeqgsOK1mUFjTGiDZkz4583IHu_LcsJNqJFphgRJ5nLWrNDvw/s1600/IMG_2039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjE-CzOjVWdYGNfiP7c9WFkuAEdl0mOwxxmRtk9dua1UIonpWsUAIJKy-coDnks6PWQb_uCuOSDjIlBthTlG_Zy8qFabQBeqgsOK1mUFjTGiDZkz4583IHu_LcsJNqJFphgRJ5nLWrNDvw/s320/IMG_2039.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
I'm normally not a fan of these kinds of decorations but I needed something for a wall in my entry. I needed something that wasn't a show stopper and something that I wouldn't mind covering up. This piece of wall happens to be below my coat rack. These wall accents were only $20 so I thought why not. Turns out I love wall accents. Who knew.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu8qDg9yUOu85whpm83h8lSBVXxVo-Bo1lDv42m5wusdqkb22dIf8TTzeFDhikvn2oN9rScjqI4GMkkrzZamahO19QFRPS2CiyySZ2IRkBnrSbhZHqmmy0NaDkh-lKq2L0XIwcllrYwH8/s1600/IMG_2072.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu8qDg9yUOu85whpm83h8lSBVXxVo-Bo1lDv42m5wusdqkb22dIf8TTzeFDhikvn2oN9rScjqI4GMkkrzZamahO19QFRPS2CiyySZ2IRkBnrSbhZHqmmy0NaDkh-lKq2L0XIwcllrYwH8/s320/IMG_2072.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I had a few other pieces left so I thought....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRTf23cK0dFY7A3xdz83hEOfs9Hh6VyqyBqONd1y06uNxAwy7OjEXdGJ1xIMZdNnfRmI61ArJ6MzT0HEhc4ovq9dezyXfz2SpfjTONeQASK3gFMP9uLNvUEnsTXS3NXPdnU4XITKkE0O4/s1600/IMG_2076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRTf23cK0dFY7A3xdz83hEOfs9Hh6VyqyBqONd1y06uNxAwy7OjEXdGJ1xIMZdNnfRmI61ArJ6MzT0HEhc4ovq9dezyXfz2SpfjTONeQASK3gFMP9uLNvUEnsTXS3NXPdnU4XITKkE0O4/s320/IMG_2076.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And then I thought, are wall accents just for walls?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_kDG-jRyoiRd-6AZbA-reySUo3p7PIV5tVSCJL0OFi0AyV3YIs3ATNH4YMBrsdTZruIDX6_vWuA0nE_TQ2abLOy9V_lH9HAdv9KdEN9AlXtbv2WnnMHv3iTBnQ_IkDHkcyyJMejG8raY/s1600/IMG_2036.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_kDG-jRyoiRd-6AZbA-reySUo3p7PIV5tVSCJL0OFi0AyV3YIs3ATNH4YMBrsdTZruIDX6_vWuA0nE_TQ2abLOy9V_lH9HAdv9KdEN9AlXtbv2WnnMHv3iTBnQ_IkDHkcyyJMejG8raY/s320/IMG_2036.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

It's your last chance to remind your guests of the great time they had while showing your appreciation for the lovely gift they gave. And if your gift was crappy... they should still get a thank you note. If you make your own thank you cards I suggest you do as I do, give the ones that didn't come out so well to the persons that gave you crappy gifts :) <br />

I go to that store more than I go to any other store. The cashiers know my name. We have discussions of my projects as they are checking me out and scanning my coupons. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">While roaming the aisles I came across this little fellow.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

If you can't tell from the picture, it's a miniature planting pot painted like a bumble bee. The box came with soil and grass seeds. Well I just had to get it.<br />
<br />
The instructions seemed simple enough. Plant seeds, water and put in sunlight. Seemed simple enough. Below is day three.<br />

But really, I'm not sure if I am truly a pet person. I had a cat---once. That relationship lasted only a few weeks. It's a long story better left for another day. It's fair to say, I am not a cat person.<br />
<br />
I like dogs, but the thought of living my life around a dog's poop schedule is not appealing to me. Now, once I make some real money and can afford a dog walker, I may reconsider. But for now, I am not a dog person.<br />
<br />
So I thought I would try and be a fish person. <br />

This means our activities are planned around nap times and feedings. It's funny, I used to play truth or dare with these same people. Now we are playing with blocks and telling bedtime stories. <br />
<br />
A very close friend of mine asked if i could make her sons' 2nd birthday party invitations. Well of course I said yes. Making kids crafts are super fun. Her son loves cars...the objects on four wheels and the Disney movie. <br />

The Thank You cards are coming up.The Scrappy Bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11398523303031509428noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351329808659147007.post-82422404706720841492011-01-30T00:38:00.000-06:002011-01-30T00:38:24.131-06:00Baby Shower BannerEver sense I started paper crafting, I began making banners. I had not given much thought to them before. We would have store bought "Happy Birthday" banners for milestones such as 40th & 65th birthday parties. Now I seem to be making banners for every occasion. For whaterver reason, they are now very important to me. I push them on everyone.<br />
<br />
<i>"Oh you're having a baby shower, you need a banner. I can make you a banner. If you're having a house warming party - you definitely need a banner. I have a great idea for a banner. Come on, let me do it." </i><br />
<br />
Now, under normal circumstances my friends wouldn't buy a banner, wouldn't even think about putting a banner up. But when someone offers to make you one, it's hard to say no. Especially when that certain someone is persistent and oh so exited to do it. <br />
<br />
As I mentioned in a previous post, my friend had twins - a baby boy and a baby girl. This banner seemed appropriate. <br />

The base of the banner are leaves. The letters are made from safari pattern paper. There are a few animals "strategically" placed throughout the banner. I don't think anyone noticed it but I loved it.The Scrappy Bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11398523303031509428noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351329808659147007.post-23683799790845327562011-01-25T08:20:00.004-06:002011-01-25T08:20:00.586-06:00No party is complete without the favors - Part 4My favorite Muppet characters from Sesame Street where Bert and Ernie (Ernie especially). A typical Bert and Ernie bit began with Ernie devising a hare-brained idea and Bert calmly attempting to talk him out of it. Usually, Bert loses his temper and Ernie would not know why. <br />
<br />
An example of an Ernie and Bert skit is the popular "banana in my ear" joke:<br />
<dl><dd><b>Ernie:</b> Hi, Bert!</dd><dd><b>Bert:</b> Hey, Ernie, you know that you have a banana in your ear?</dd><dd><b>Ernie:</b> What was that, Bert?</dd><dd><b>Bert:</b> (<i>more loudly</i>) I said, you have a banana in your ear, Ernie. Bananas are food. They are to <i>eat</i>, not to put in your ear!</dd><dd><b>Ernie:</b> What did you say, Bert?</dd><dd><b>Bert:</b> (<i>shouting</i>) WOULD YOU JUST TAKE THAT BANANA OUT OF YOUR EAR?!</dd><dd><b>Ernie:</b> I'm sorry, you'll have to speak a little louder, Bert! I can't hear you; I have a banana in my ear!</dd></dl><br />
Comic genius. <br />
<br />
Some of my favorite bits where of Ernie and his rubber duckie. I just loved the rubber duckie song as I'm sure you did as well. Sing with me now: <br />
<br />
<div align="center">Rubber Duckie you’re the one,</div><div align="center">You make bathtime lots of fun,</div><div align="center">Rubber Duckie I'm awfully fond of you</div><div align="center">Vo-vo-dee-o!...... </div><br />
Ahh, the good old days. In the spirit of Ernie and his rubber duckie, I had to get a rubber duckie to finish off my party favor bag. And of course they couldn't be just any rubber duckie, they had to follow the theme of the baby shower - animal/safari. <br />

I hope this series inspired you to give awesome party favors at your next party.The Scrappy Bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11398523303031509428noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351329808659147007.post-57944328795559980022011-01-23T23:19:00.000-06:002011-01-23T23:19:31.410-06:00No party is complete without the favors - Part 3It is no secret, I am more of a paper crafting person than a sewing project person. However, I am slowly trying to dive into the fabric world. I have all of these grand sewing projects in mind. Mostly from tutorials I've found online. I love the internet. You can find so many projects online where people were kind enough to give you step by step instructioins on how to create their ideas. <br />
<br />
My biggest problem (in both life and crafting) is my lack of patience. When I want something, I want something done now. And since I don't know how to thread my machine and it would be simpler to just go over to my mothers house and have her set up her machine (and get me out of a sewing jam if I get into one) I tend to just go over there. I think I am making progress though. I now own a sewing machine. I haven't opened it but isn't the first step admitting you have a sewing machine....or is the first step admitting you have a problem. Regardless, my third party favor for my friends baby shower was a sewing project inspired but Martha Stewart - a tissue case. Find tutorial <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/article/tissue-cases">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Here is my version a little dressed up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTVB07YYqOuByTiDf5Siq7fS3XX6fvGSbqeNNPTOJZtWkcnUItIBLvFkWZND40uZDUCOMetT8VClqigHWvcfZ-RjuyqIeU95AmrU5_WcMbUFp6H9EFsBaeYRF1sT1yjPqYAeXhn2YcUmU/s1600/IMG_1911.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTVB07YYqOuByTiDf5Siq7fS3XX6fvGSbqeNNPTOJZtWkcnUItIBLvFkWZND40uZDUCOMetT8VClqigHWvcfZ-RjuyqIeU95AmrU5_WcMbUFp6H9EFsBaeYRF1sT1yjPqYAeXhn2YcUmU/s320/IMG_1911.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>The flowers were cut using a cuddlebug die cut and then sewed on with a button. As a new seamstress, felt has become my go to fabric for projects because you don't have to hem the edges. Felt doesn't fray. Here is what the other side looks like.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcVjoZ-L4yVXRXVJCpFl175mCwrcFt9kO0cDQuoFkUqBVKl3gNxiuaZwzjNbInaYq9XK49uxSWsK76u7er5ynsYXDXmx0HMnmMaGs-NK138xpqEhZriwlFwCZ0bIw_LB4eaIu2jtxbFrU/s1600/IMG_1913.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcVjoZ-L4yVXRXVJCpFl175mCwrcFt9kO0cDQuoFkUqBVKl3gNxiuaZwzjNbInaYq9XK49uxSWsK76u7er5ynsYXDXmx0HMnmMaGs-NK138xpqEhZriwlFwCZ0bIw_LB4eaIu2jtxbFrU/s320/IMG_1913.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Now you may remember, I went for a spa theme for my party favors and you may be asking yourself how does a tissue case fit in? And my answer is - you may have to blow your nose during your spa day. In which case you will need tissue. Makes sense....right? <br />
<br />
Stay tuned for final party favor show and tell later this week.The Scrappy Bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11398523303031509428noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351329808659147007.post-62413419180982896792011-01-21T08:00:00.001-06:002011-01-21T08:00:15.382-06:00No party is complete without the favors - Part 2To go along with my spa themed party favor bags for my friend's baby shower, I included little jars of bath salts.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOExo3u9uVjGM1raSdjL3a9fgwjUi_sQS_N_cOLTY9GlxHj5O4c6lLS8itSbUZZRG8mHCD8dd0C8uEJBnWzzRMVIkzYSYgmJ8ak1xB9XWRH_Gpfd2Ld-t5i-e9Ab65RgNKdGyr68EsCtA/s1600/IMG_1910.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOExo3u9uVjGM1raSdjL3a9fgwjUi_sQS_N_cOLTY9GlxHj5O4c6lLS8itSbUZZRG8mHCD8dd0C8uEJBnWzzRMVIkzYSYgmJ8ak1xB9XWRH_Gpfd2Ld-t5i-e9Ab65RgNKdGyr68EsCtA/s320/IMG_1910.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I purchased the jars from Hobby Lobby and the bath salts are from Target. A very inexpensive gift but it packed a punch I thought.<br />
<br />
In order to jazz up the jars a bit more I placed stickers on all four sides. Two sides had pictures of animals (the theme of the baby shower) and the other two sides had the initials of the babies (in case you forgot, my friend had twins - a boy and a girl). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYNPVjAGbBbMfYUGUcSGWLcxReoBgJaO2OECs67nYZf2UF2kxVWmHI08HCuG0MjrrABlgaGP4ypZISQpyteskaMQ6fWi19S4dJnRZiQgCuu1fVsBjkmFllSUEXHL2Y5R0l8nmDSMmQjDQ/s1600/IMG_1908.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYNPVjAGbBbMfYUGUcSGWLcxReoBgJaO2OECs67nYZf2UF2kxVWmHI08HCuG0MjrrABlgaGP4ypZISQpyteskaMQ6fWi19S4dJnRZiQgCuu1fVsBjkmFllSUEXHL2Y5R0l8nmDSMmQjDQ/s320/IMG_1908.jpg" width="240" /></a></div> I wasn't really sure how many boxes of bath salts to buy so I ended up with an extra box of each. Instead of returning them, I added them to the soap when it was in the liquid state...to help with my color issues...it didn't really help as evident in my previous post. However, my soap did smell lovely.<br />
<br />
Next up - tissue holders. "How is that spa themed?" you ask. Well you are going to have to tune in next time to find out.The Scrappy Bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11398523303031509428noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351329808659147007.post-86309419953569099032011-01-19T08:35:00.002-06:002011-01-19T22:25:32.098-06:00No party is complete without the favors - Part 1For my friend's baby shower I was in charge of invitations, party favors, and the banner. Two of her other friends were also sharing the hosting duties and seeing as how we were in different cities, coordinating the shower was no easy task. I wasn't in charge of all decorations which posed a problem in keeping everything cohesive.<br />
<br />
My friend didn't really like the idea of your traditional pink and blue to represent the boy and girl she was having. This information, however, wasn't shared with her other two friends. So when I discovered this little fact (after her friends bought all this pink and blue stuff) I had to alter my color scheme a bit. Which, let me tell you, trying to keep a very pregnant woman and two other people I hardly know happy, is no easy task.<br />
<br />
My compromise was to have pink and blue items inside the bags but the bags themselves would be earth toned. The outcome wasn't so bad.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0R3vHzz2B4RvMMOfj8AAy3stUX19YrVVjx9qNw7-svyQiG_pCC_eUuDG0IRLbPUDr0c4teqKSa5Qv-xZ6sSwe2qFL-ARs4sRK4PSG_9r56NoatU2GmbBU8YX0YGjPYrXtLnhav8vhhfs/s1600/IMG_1925.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0R3vHzz2B4RvMMOfj8AAy3stUX19YrVVjx9qNw7-svyQiG_pCC_eUuDG0IRLbPUDr0c4teqKSa5Qv-xZ6sSwe2qFL-ARs4sRK4PSG_9r56NoatU2GmbBU8YX0YGjPYrXtLnhav8vhhfs/s320/IMG_1925.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I'm a fan of themes. They provide direction and focus for me. Of course this is not to say I don't go overboard with a theme :) For this baby shower I went for a spa theme. Each bag contained 5 items<br />
<ol><li>Soap</li>
<li>Bath salts</li>
<li>Bath Fizz ball</li>
<li>Tissue holder (ok not spa themed but they are so cute)</li>
<li>Rubber ducky </li>
</ol>The little bags you see in the picture above have cookies for any little kids that attended.<br />
<br />
For this post I would like to share with you the soap that I made using a soap brick, dye, and animal molds. You first need to melt your soap in either a double boiler or in the microwave. I used a double boiler because it was going to take me a while to mix the dyes correctly and I needed the soap to remain hot.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJsCeHWSOj3jcuKK7EeBIJJe6VRfd-KAzTUFmrMUNNcW-XQRryqBJn9AliDrQAoIeqALZvvh2IufAhSEe1Vk5mcXTZ7BhkGwXOekRTgdlDwux_lNNy3dfW_iZ_GQ148cZlPrvmX-Vn3oY/s1600/617811.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJsCeHWSOj3jcuKK7EeBIJJe6VRfd-KAzTUFmrMUNNcW-XQRryqBJn9AliDrQAoIeqALZvvh2IufAhSEe1Vk5mcXTZ7BhkGwXOekRTgdlDwux_lNNy3dfW_iZ_GQ148cZlPrvmX-Vn3oY/s1600/617811.jpg" /></a> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Once the soap was in a liquid state, I poured in soap dye to change the color of the soap from white to pinkish and blueish. </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZhyw_wilMfc5J76TJIFvYctjTzvBmMhma3FFtE7QR1lTl81Uz64nxyirqhB4gSS2whVgqbHxChqyf22wAPx172fjg6gWCF3pXzhSuQAcOTKPd42Xj_CA7OasoXbUs3jMT-3GFngz0IoU/s1600/306837.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZhyw_wilMfc5J76TJIFvYctjTzvBmMhma3FFtE7QR1lTl81Uz64nxyirqhB4gSS2whVgqbHxChqyf22wAPx172fjg6gWCF3pXzhSuQAcOTKPd42Xj_CA7OasoXbUs3jMT-3GFngz0IoU/s1600/306837.jpg" /></a></div>I then poured the soap into some animal molds and waited 20 minutes for them to dry. The end result was fabulous.<br />

Your alarm wakes you up and you can't remember why you set it. Well that has been me these last couple of weeks. I've been busy with home improvement projects (which I will share later) that seem to take up all of my free time. Before then....I'll blame the holidays and pure laziness. But I am back with a vengeance. Expect several posts the next couple of weeks. <br />
<br />
A good friend of mine was pregnant with twins (she delivered a boy and a girl a few weeks ago) but before these bundles of joy came into our lives, her friends and I gave her a baby shower. I was in charge of invitations, party favors, & banner. Three of my favorite things to make. <br />
<br />
We had an animal theme baby shower. Or maybe it was safari theme....I don't remember now. My friend is not very keen on traditional girl and boy colors i.e. pink and blue so her invitations had earthy tones. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinQqi1Mjb1U67GWYWbcb0Nal0uMxrVFlqcS4Cbz-tyeyrdZILmfVJFzM7tSVfwRn-s88SyRMU5KRueYhJb59-gXN86YtGihpV1a-stwX4K2i_7GIDf2eKc6J5Y78reU4Iwn2o_4lTewKs/s1600/IMG_1906.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinQqi1Mjb1U67GWYWbcb0Nal0uMxrVFlqcS4Cbz-tyeyrdZILmfVJFzM7tSVfwRn-s88SyRMU5KRueYhJb59-gXN86YtGihpV1a-stwX4K2i_7GIDf2eKc6J5Y78reU4Iwn2o_4lTewKs/s320/IMG_1906.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>In case you can't tell from the picture, these are elephant heads raised with dimensions. Other invitations had monkey heads and giraffe heads as well as an animal combination. These were super simple to make and not your typical baby shower invitation. I loved them and more importantly so did the mom to be. <br />

In a few days I'll share my party favors. They were a little over the top but I couldn't help myself. There was a pumpkin carving contest at my place of work. Two co-workers and I decided to join the competition.<br />
<br />
We came up with this brilliant idea. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIhyphenhyphenXY1aQ-bQ2Yz70Nx-Sy-kzrCLWJrpgKXSxMVjmtEeHiduqTJd0dnyyEgc2tYHHdoX41sUM3NWZ9e873_h-igp-lzi4AyZ6TbMb899NsS1fIz7GlipMoa6E4VgKoW-DWfZpx5YHSuzo/s1600/IMG_1876.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIhyphenhyphenXY1aQ-bQ2Yz70Nx-Sy-kzrCLWJrpgKXSxMVjmtEeHiduqTJd0dnyyEgc2tYHHdoX41sUM3NWZ9e873_h-igp-lzi4AyZ6TbMb899NsS1fIz7GlipMoa6E4VgKoW-DWfZpx5YHSuzo/s320/IMG_1876.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
How cute are they. I don't even have to say who they were right? You can totally tell.<br />
<br />
Here are a few other entries. There were 11 in total. <br />
<br />

These are lovely pumpkins as well but we felt we had a real shot at winning.....we came in third. Technically we did win something...but we didn't win it all.<br />
<br />
I wasn't planning on blogging about this. But I just came across these pictures and wounds were re-opened. I was hoping blogging would help in the healing process.The Scrappy Bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11398523303031509428noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351329808659147007.post-431755723477687012010-10-17T22:39:00.000-05:002010-10-17T22:39:28.649-05:00AddictionAddiction is defined as <i>the uncontrollable compulsion to repeat a behavior regardless of its negative consequences.</i> A person who is addicted is sometimes called an <b>addict</b>.<br />
<br />
Hello, my name is The Scrappy Bug and I am a Words with Friends addict. A good friend of mine introduced me to this game. It's just like scrabble but better. There is no argument over the validity of a word because the system automatically tells you the letters you played are not a word. You don't lose your turn when you make up a word. And, you can play with multiple opponents at once.<br />
<br />
I am constantly checking my phone to see if my opponents have played a word. And because there is no penalty, I check all letter combinations to see if they make a word - Coz, Qi, Raj are all words that have been used and have scored a ton of points. <br />
<br />
I was sick last night and didn't end up falling asleep until 4am. I woke up at 10am and the first thing I did was check my phone to see if it was my turn. I still wasn't feeling 100% but I must say entering KURTA for 38pts did make me feel just a little bit better.<br />
<br />
If you can, I would recommend downloading this game and inviting a friend or two or three. All addiction doesn't have to be bad. This one is educational...as long as you look up the definition of the word you didn't know. <br />

I was a full time student with a full time job and a need to craft. My day was scheduled from beginning to end. At times, this included my lunch hour and my bus ride to and from home. I didn't have weekends. At least not in the sense that most people have weekends - I forgot to mention - I had a part time job that took up my Saturdays. In short, I was busy. <br />
<br />
So of course when I graduated, I took some time off. I deserved it. I earned it. So after work, I would come home and do nothing. And I mean nothing. No cooking, little cleaning, no crafting, and sadly, no blogging. I just watched TV and then watched some more TV. My weekends still include work, but on Sundays I do nothing. All day. In my PJs. It's fabulous. Marvelous. The best thing ever.<br />
<br />
But all good things must come to an end. I have craft orders I must fill and craft fairs I must prepare for. I have to start cooking or take a third job to pay for my restaurant debt. And the dust layer is starting to look like furniture padding.<br />
<br />
I have to get out of my funk. So I am starting with my blog. Hopefully I will have something of interest to post real soon. Wish me luck.The Scrappy Bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11398523303031509428noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-351329808659147007.post-52465132467228720022010-09-20T21:24:00.000-05:002010-09-20T21:24:43.011-05:00The Story of Larry and Bob<div style="text-align: center;">***PARENTAL ADVISORY****</div><div style="text-align: center;">This story is not for the timid. </div><br />
I spent the majority of my vacation in gorgeous, breathtaking, Maine. ( I have actually sent a letter to the state of Maine telling them they should change their name to Gorgeous Breathtaking Maine. I'll let you know if they reply.)<br />
<br />
Of course, all you hear and all you see are signs saying, "Find the best lobster rolls here." "Fresh lobster here." Even fast food restaurants get in on the action. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjbGLhsxHea6TZQSDdeTzdVAJorZ3oeQg_TloDUBxbSzLXHk7lSYhXLHnDrvzNWUQxgWl_eE7Szd91GyHtuofUSU7ZAynledI3COxIGTJBuSSQhcExh4EWgwsP2UIry2WvuNXmw2L4j0k/s1600/IMG_1499.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjbGLhsxHea6TZQSDdeTzdVAJorZ3oeQg_TloDUBxbSzLXHk7lSYhXLHnDrvzNWUQxgWl_eE7Szd91GyHtuofUSU7ZAynledI3COxIGTJBuSSQhcExh4EWgwsP2UIry2WvuNXmw2L4j0k/s320/IMG_1499.JPG" /></a></div>So of course I had to try the famous Maine lobster.<br />
<br />
Enter the Lucky Catch. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA6yGI4cojbioxQ71R0x2yZ-CZvQLomwxNu5t25gBEL_xVUEAUD4oGfNNqjE-o-5NwrmLFnV00Xo2QYvcVvqXhLHWjQ48h-HWPvycDKH0Yp2gxTa_E9dR7q2-aeGcYw36GaqwN3L9sEYE/s1600/IMG_1582.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA6yGI4cojbioxQ71R0x2yZ-CZvQLomwxNu5t25gBEL_xVUEAUD4oGfNNqjE-o-5NwrmLFnV00Xo2QYvcVvqXhLHWjQ48h-HWPvycDKH0Yp2gxTa_E9dR7q2-aeGcYw36GaqwN3L9sEYE/s320/IMG_1582.JPG" /></a></div>And Captain Tom<br />

Captain Tom was awesome. He and his staff will take you out and teach you all about lobstering. I can tell you how to identify if the lobster is male or female. I can tell you what you do if you catch an egg laying lobster. I can even rubber band a lobster claw with one twist.<br />
<br />

<br />
Enter - Larry and Bob.<br />

They were the right size in order for us to keep and they didn't wiggle very much in your hand - two important aspects when picking your own lobster off the boat. <br />
<br />
In this picture above, Larry is on the left. Bob is on the right.<br />

Bob is on the right.<br />

I warned you, this story was not for the timid. <br />

As a reward to myself, I took a vacation and visited Boston, Massachusetts and three cities in Maine - Camden, Bar Harbor, & Portland. It was the best vacation I have ever taken and one I will never forget.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbQakBBJq6ssHedGADEsmhk6Yibd918hGSHDgPIEgcqRAJk67llHr5Wq_mjG9ZCsiHkmHMKOUXZnL1yNY085Vr5hjso_B5dvjCB8VckXC8HrgKn8drP8hH1ptcD2T0MiuRvIlPw9_RowU/s1600/IMG_1592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbQakBBJq6ssHedGADEsmhk6Yibd918hGSHDgPIEgcqRAJk67llHr5Wq_mjG9ZCsiHkmHMKOUXZnL1yNY085Vr5hjso_B5dvjCB8VckXC8HrgKn8drP8hH1ptcD2T0MiuRvIlPw9_RowU/s320/IMG_1592.JPG" /></a></div>Sadly, we only had two days in Boston. Both days rained nonstop. But even in the gray and gloom, the architecture, the history, the spirit of Boston showed through.<br />

I plan on going back and making Boston it's own vacation.<br />

I have successfully completed my master's degree. The light at the end of tunnel was there, just like everyone said. I am filled with emotions; happiness, relief, excitement, uncertainty about the future..... <br />
<br />
My family through me a party to celebrate. I of course provided the invitations. I kept them simple yet elegant. It's amazing what some ribbon, pattern paper, and just the right font can do. <br />

Blank cards make a great gift. This allows the person to use the cards as they wish. <br />

He has already exhibited the traits of a teenager. He no longer tells his mother he loves her in front of his friends. He walks into another room when his cell phone rings. And of course, he knows everything.<br />
<br />
Let me tell you how difficult it is to design a card for a teenage boy. I don't know that I succeed but at least he said, "This one pops up." It could be worse. He could have said, "This sucks."<br />
<br />
It's the little things really.<br />

I believe the guests had a good time and more importantly the mother to be really enjoyed herself.<br />
<br />
Although this was my first baby shower, I treated this party just like my other parties. <br />
<br />
Presentation is everything.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9uUv19Kgj9FfrkMSUMFisc6cfD0iFwC6mij5VZiWbfAe12ssfHP6jv89HULAuHOH_DQgPxGuPFAJbFXWk0hjfDbfmb2zS2oW-kRkFNIHHSsI8uKHXgqurFq4gc6cwErW45U0wMVIQ_MI/s1600/IMG_1198.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9uUv19Kgj9FfrkMSUMFisc6cfD0iFwC6mij5VZiWbfAe12ssfHP6jv89HULAuHOH_DQgPxGuPFAJbFXWk0hjfDbfmb2zS2oW-kRkFNIHHSsI8uKHXgqurFq4gc6cwErW45U0wMVIQ_MI/s320/IMG_1198.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Flowers add softness and warmth. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhizSDmS52rJwpub6DUETvfLdOTFYHtyg7N8I2zoacekWJOphsoP6Q6K39L9KYen4Pj7NBGXsbU5MtWz-Enopgeu2ATCVsXRsHZTCRLf9sFaP5aK2kkbtswu-omVIU-ZOT4msF6r8H_YoM/s1600/IMG_1188.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhizSDmS52rJwpub6DUETvfLdOTFYHtyg7N8I2zoacekWJOphsoP6Q6K39L9KYen4Pj7NBGXsbU5MtWz-Enopgeu2ATCVsXRsHZTCRLf9sFaP5aK2kkbtswu-omVIU-ZOT4msF6r8H_YoM/s320/IMG_1188.JPG" /></a></div><br />

I'll post pictures from the party later this week. The mother-to-be visits my blog so I could not post her gift until after the party. I made her a Brag Book.<br />

I am so happy with how it came out.<br />
<br />
When I was growing up, every single backyard in my neighborhood was filled with freshly laundered clothes by 10am on a Saturday morning. Although doing the laundry is still not my favorite chore, I love the smell of clean clothes on a Saturday morning.<br />
<br />
I found these miniature clothespins at Michael's and they were the perfect finishing touch. <br />

This gave me a wonderful opportunity to throw a party. More specifically, a baby shower. This will be the first baby shower that I have hosted and I can't wait to throw another one. All of my friends need to get pregnant this very instant. Baby showers are so much fun to plan. Plus she already knows she is having a girl so I got to use alot of pink and make pretty things. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>Over the course of the next week I will post the party favors, banner, flower arrangements, and table scape. But first we must start with the invitation. <br />
<br />

I used my fiskars boarder punch for the bottom edge and I rounded the top two corners. They came out super cute.<br />

For her special birthday, I wanted to make her a special gift. I've been dabbing in mini albums lately and came across a tutorial on a mini album made out of No 10 envelopes. I love how it turned out.<br />
<br />
It's an accordion style design - 5 envelopes made 10 pockets and 10 surfaces to design on. <br />
<br />
Here are the front and back covers...or the back and front cover depending on which way you start. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp07Z03Q6Bm2kX79RTXR0SqnfoJI017Xwl7wcz0Drrdk0G49tUydsY0F2a2OubGLc03t1Os2giAZ_moe2h8gsc2x92iUHTz8f77dpy5MR5jqR0939PoXY5VEM2hX2a4d2z9AtNgiu-SzI/s1600/IMG_1119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp07Z03Q6Bm2kX79RTXR0SqnfoJI017Xwl7wcz0Drrdk0G49tUydsY0F2a2OubGLc03t1Os2giAZ_moe2h8gsc2x92iUHTz8f77dpy5MR5jqR0939PoXY5VEM2hX2a4d2z9AtNgiu-SzI/s320/IMG_1119.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5OTY2_OL_o1j1Ja0nHkk283t1wBe8aVfBGZwdZXfv94mNTo7p7JTDfSMNMgq7n75PNlgWlrz74zEoIvo9-nRuSMFRui8tnIkBt_JiTjAXPGCHfX45mDCNAC1G1y3I_7JoQ137bp9-pGA/s1600/IMG_1118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5OTY2_OL_o1j1Ja0nHkk283t1wBe8aVfBGZwdZXfv94mNTo7p7JTDfSMNMgq7n75PNlgWlrz74zEoIvo9-nRuSMFRui8tnIkBt_JiTjAXPGCHfX45mDCNAC1G1y3I_7JoQ137bp9-pGA/s320/IMG_1118.JPG" /></a></div>Here is the side view. Once I added all the embellishments and tags, it got thick. <br />
